Department of Zoology

It is one of the best Departments in the College with a rich museum and well-equipped laboratories. It has undergraduate Honours and General courses. The Department of Zoology, established in 1970 has a glorious and eventful heritage. The Department has a good teacher-student ratio. Well-equipped laboratories, rich faculties and educational excellence are the three main characteristics of this Department. The Department is provided computer with ultra-modern servers, a Seminar Library rich-with-books and modern teaching aids for teachers and students.

At present the Department enrolls thirty Honours graduate students and 164 General students each year. Students can study different fields of Zoology like biochemistry, endocrinology, entomology, ecology, environmental biology, fisheries, parasitology, immunology, genetics, cell and molecular biology, embryology etc. throughout their syllabus. At present the faculty strength is 5. The Department makes every possible effort to impart valued teaching and guidance to students.

Every year this Department arranges educational tours, exhibition, and Departmental seminars. Students from our College, neighboring Colleges & Schools used to visit the exhibition. Our students presented the matters in interesting and lucid manner. The visitors obtained a lot of information about various current topics. Students have a healthy interaction with the visitors. This enriched their knowledge and enhanced their communication skill. Students and teachers actively take part in those programmes.

Benefiting from the rich contributions made by a galaxy of eminent academicians, the Department has produced a formidable batch of teachers and research scholars over the decades. Alumni of this department have made their marks in various Institutions around the country.
